Grampa's Turkey

He FINALLY Did It!
Today was opening day of turkey season! I took the day off for it even though I can't shoot until next Monday! The birds were few and far between this morning! We hunted hard until 730 AM and then we went and had a little breakfast then we took Dad's car home for Mom and went out back of myself! Up until we walked it out there, we had seen a grand total of two birds! I got up at 355 AM this morning to hunt so I wasn't feeling it and was not happy that the birds weren't out! I would rather turkey hunt in the rain then a fog like it was this morning! They don't like to come down out of the trees when it is foggy! Probably because they can't see and that is their defense! OK, we go out back of my house, set up about half way down to the brook, set up the decoys and start calling! Dad is sitting to my right and he can see all the way down the pipeline! He says, "here comes one!" I can't see it yet but I keep calling and it finally crests the hill about 150 yards down and is coming right for the decoys! We call her to about 25 yards and she is clucking and purring and carrying on with the decoys! She finally loses interest after spending four or five minutes circling the decoys and clucking and putting her head off! She walks off and goes into the woods to our right! Dad and I stert talking about how cool that was and how close we called her in! Dad lights a smoke and I set my calls down and we are talking. I look down and at the same time, we both say, "here comes some more!" These three are definitely toms! They may be jakes but they are coming right at the decoys! Now the kicker! Both Dad and I have set our calls down and neither one of us dares to reach for them because the birds will see us! We sit still and watch the birds eye the decoys and haed right for them! They come in to about 20 yards and Dad finally pulls up and fires! I think the pictures to the left speak about what happened next! Good day! Later

Over for a night of American Idol and drinking! I have to day that once Jerry got into the flow, I was having a blast! OK, I was having a blast all night! I was drinking rum which is my drink of LOVE! LOL! I am not kidding! I drink rum and I want to screw! Idol is a blast with a bunch of people! I really want Rock Band but my wife is quite persistent that it won't happen so it probably won't! I am still buzzing pretty hard as I write this so if I am rude or horny, you have been warned! I wish I could have gone to Tim and Kristie's house warming today! I had to work until 5 PM so I couldn't make it and I still haven't seen their new house yet! First Trout

Sean and I FINALLY...
Got our first trout this year! Actually, Sean got the first one! I will say it was worth the wait! THAT is a beautiful trout! 12 inches long and easily the biggest one he has ever caught! He was on cloud nine when he caught it! He studdied every little detail of that trout! The two holes on her back! The sucker eggs coming out of her mouth and the dorsal fin that looks like a cheetah! Tomorrow I will cook his big fish for him! I think today made the last 3-4 times seem worth it to him! We got to watch a HUGE tom turkey courting hens like 200 yards from my house and he caught a trout like that walking distance from our house! I LOVE where we live! I wouldn't trade it for anything! I have to work tomorrow and then I have two days off again! I am SO looking forward to turkey hunting and fishing with Sean on Monday! I know- it is crazy to look forward to getting up at 4 AM but it is SO much fun! I need to take an hour and get all my stuff ready! I know I won't do it until Sunday night because that it how I roll! Well, off to check some more blogs and then see what is going on here tonight! Night

Janice Eve

Tomorrow, Janice Will Be Here!
My wife, my children and I are very excited! I guess that is what makes living far away from people worth while- when you finally see them again, it is extra special and fun! I think I figured out a work out I like for my new bench! I seemed to have a really good work out tonight and tomorrow will be the tester to see if I am sore or not! I actually fixed my old bench at work today so I now have two benches! LOL. Well, off to watch a movie with my wife! Night

I Have Been Slacking

I Haven't Been Feeling...
The blog thing lately! I had a pretty cool week- only worked five days instead of the much more common six day week! The kick to the ribs was the pager! I feel like I haven't slept in a week and I really don't feel all that great! I wake up with a sore throat and all stuffy and then it goes away only to come back again around 8 PM. I guess it could be allergies but I have NEVER had allergies my whole life! I practically live outside in the summer so I would probably have felt allergies before now! I got some pretty cool news at work today even though I am not allowed to share it yet! I think I will be very happy in three to four weeks! We did pretty good on Sunday getting stuff done! I got the yard all picked up, Colleen got the house looking awesome and we had a really cool, fun day! I am looking forward to turkey hunting one week from today! I can't shoot but I like to go and call for my Dad! I LOVE it when he misses birds and I can make fun of him! I got a new weight bench yesterday but I am not crazy about it! I like my old one better but since I was like one more workout from busting every rib I own, I guess the new one is better! I can't find the right weight for workouts though and I need to find a fluid workout that goes well with my new bench! I will get it and all will be well but I am not the greatest person in the world with dealing with change! Well, off to rub my wife's feet amd watch some TV! Night!

Two Days Off

Yesterday Was Sean's Big...
Birthday party at the bowling alley! I thought it went great! Everyone seemed to have a good time and Sean got TONS of toys! I think that place is perfect for a party! I had a really nice day- coming home and playing with all his toys! Today was not as much fun! I got up and had coffee and then filled some holes in the driveway, fixed a piece of floor in the den, put trim in the bathroom and took the rack out of there, did laundry and picked up the yard a little! Then Jessi got home and I had to go to the school and pick up Sean, then we went fishing and came home, had some sausage on the grill and we are now getting ready to play GR and chill for the rest of the night. I am exhausted! I feel like a played two entire football games and got pummeled over and over again! I have to go take a shower and I get to go back to work tomorrow! I have to say that I liked having two days off! Night

Had A Blast!

I Had A Great...
Time last night with Julie, Jerry and Zack! It was laid back, relaxing and pure fun! I loved the marshmallow fights! I am looking forward to bowling and more fun! I did get some productive things done today as well! I went to the dump which was WAY overdue and I fed the birds and am starting to get the basement dried out! I need to call my brother and see if he has the tool I need to finish our bathroom! I might get it for two weeks straight if I can EVER finish that friggin' thing! I am on call though and we know what THAT means! ;) Later

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Today Is My Little...
Man's birthday! He is six years old today! Six years ago today, I went through terrible discomfort and pain so that he can be here! Nicole was there and it probably scared the CRAP out of her! Oh, I really had to pee when Sean was born so that was the pain I refer to! LOL! I can't believe he is six years old! It seems like he just came home from the hospital the other day! Colleen is 3 for 3 on picking good, uplifting movies for us to watch lately! Surprisingly, neither one of us have slit our wrists after her last three choices of movie! That movie last night was messed up! I do have to say though that I figured it out before Colleen did! That never happens! Well, off to work out, hang out with the birthday boy before he goes to bed and take a shower! Night!

I Have Been Blog Slacky...
This week! Tomorrow is this silly man's sixth birthday! Plus, I figured out turkey season starts on April 28th- well, not for me but I can go on April 28th with Dad! That would be 19 days away! I am taking three days off on my second week of turkey hunting. Sean has an even number on his DOB so Sean and I will never hunt turkeys the same week! He is with Grampa on that! I am looking forward to this weekend and my plan is to take Monday off to get stuff done around the house and just chill out! Alex will not be happy that I won't be there but I need two days off! Plus, that looks good for Todd with people getting laid off that I actually only work five days! I am on call, too so it isn't all peaches and cream! LOL Well, off to eat supper, play GR with Sean and veg out for the night! Night

WTF?

So, I Wake Up...
At 6:15 AM, make some coffee, drink an entire pot, gather up the kitchen trash, gather up the laundry room trash, get laundry going and deliver laundry to the people it belongs and then head down stairs to grab the rest of the trash to put on the porch. I get to the bottom of the stairs and there is five inches of water over the entire basement floor! Colleen had just said she was going back upstairs to lay down so I throw on my boots, wade through the water and check the sump pump! It is F'd up BIG time! There is smoke rolling out of it and I am standing in 5 inches of water with the fucking thing plugged in! I am not the brightest bulb in the box but even I realize this is one of those stupidest home video moments just waiting for me! So, I unplug the useless fucking thing, throw it up on top of something high and head back upstairs- soaked and cold and not feeling this bullshit ONE bit! I yell to Colleen who proceeds to go down stairs and start ripping me a new one for the shit on the floor! I grab Sean and my keys and head to the dreaded Home Depot! I get back, replumb the new pump standing in five fucking inches of water- actually went much easier than I thought it would and drop the new pump in and plug it in! Now, water is pumping out like it should even though I will be the rest of the day cleaning up shit down there! I know I heard that shit box of a pump working last night so it probably only didn't work for like 12 hours but that was MORE than enough time! It has been a REALLY long time since we had water in our basement! I thought we were past that phase in our life but I guess the pump had other ideas! We had plans today which I have canceled do to water and I am really not happy about that! I was looking forward to hanging out and having fun- not working in the wet, cold basement! Well, time to go back down and make sure the water is pumping out like it should! I don't think I will try any electronic devices while I am down there! Later

Just Because

Just Because...
I think these are like the coolest pictures EVER! I am very much looking forward to no working tomorrow! We are having Jerry and Julie over and Miranda and her kids over for a little picture taking and get together! I have to get my stuff done in the morning ASAP and then help my wife get ready for the people to show up! Miranda has a new baby boy and Colleen wants to take some pictures for her portfolio! I had a supper of spinach ardichoke dip and pretzel rods! Jessi is gone for the night! I heard the weather is going to be pretty descent tomorrow and I am looking forward to grilling on the porch- even if my grill isn't as new and nice as Tim and Kristie's! Now we have the third oldest house next to Tim and Kristie's and Mom and Dad's! Time to build a new one so we can be first again! LOL- just kidding! I am perfectly happy with my house! My aunt passed away last night! My Dad called me this morning and told me she passed away last night. I actually think it is for the best since she had a really bad stroke 7-8 years ago and really was never even close to the same! I know I never want to be useless to my wife and kids! Nothing could be worse than that except maybe not remembering the people you have loved your whole life! Well, Sean is chomping at the bit to go online and try his new game Jessi just got him! Off to relax and go to bed! Night

Ready For Bed

It Is 8:50 PM...
And I am ready for bed! It has been an exhausting week at work! It was busy and crazy and the week felt like it would never end! I know I still have to fight through tomorrow before the week is really over but I am totally ready for a day off! The snow today was depressing! I am looking forward to some descent weather and some fishing but it isn't looking that great right now! I felt like crap this afternoon! I felt like I had a fever, my face felt flush and I felt like I was getting sick! It passed though and I came home, finished off the lasagna and worked out and played video games with Sean! I don't think I am long for staying awake do I am off to check some scores and go to bed! I was all excited that I had talked my wife into letting me get the baseball package for our dish and then came to find out our carrier doesn't GET the baseball package! I SO need Direct TV so I can get NFL and MLB! I kind of like sports and I HATE not being able to see my teams play! The NFL is the big one though! I really miss seeing every Vikings game! Oh well, turkey season in a month and fishing season as soon as it warms up enough to catch some fish! Plus I have a ton of stuff to do around the house to make my wife a happy lady! I want her to have all the things she wants around here! Maybe seeing Tim and Kristie work so hard on their place and spring coming slowly but surely will light a fire in me! Night

Stirring The Pot

OK, My Wife Says...
That my blogs are boring and the same thing every day! First, today was awesome at work! The day was more than manageable and Al was in a pretty good mood! Todd was OK, too! Ty was Ty so that didn't change much! I was in a good mood pretty much all day and am very happy to be home right now, getting ready to play Ghost Recon with Sean! I need to work out in a few minutes- I am just letting my delicious supper of lasagna to settle before I go stir it up! I walked up to the other building today at work and when I walked back down, I tooted. It was REALLY windy today and it STILL stunk up the outside! I started laughing my head off and must have looked like a freak walking down to the shop! I bet like ten guys got slapped in the trailer park since that is where the wind was blowing! Well, off to go fart and play Ghost Recon! I'll have this den smelling like a cow farm before I am done! LOL Night

TIRING Day

Today Was The First...
Day of fishing season and I did end up fishing for an hour after work! After this beautiful winter, we caught absolutely nothing! I am SO ready for real, warm weather! I did throw in a work out when I got home from work and then we watched Idol and now I am getting ready for bed! Today was an absolute train wreck at work! What a cluster of a day! The phones did not stop! Al was cranky as well and that made for a long day! I am no where near used to my new phone. I need to program some music on it and I need to get all my people in my new phone! I don't know why you can't just transfer your old contacts to a new phone. Seems like a pretty simple procedure! I am thinking about ring tones for people and I have a few ideas! I am hungry still so I am off to find a quick snack before bed! Night
