Happy New Year!

Don't Really Have Much...
To say but thought I would wish everyone a happy New Year and lets hope the snow stops before long! I thought we had some global warming thing going on! I want it back! I am going outside right now and spraying aerosol cans into the air! Seriously, this winter has been ridiculous! I think Colleen and I are going to have a quiet evening watching tv and maybe having a few drinks! Boring, yes but beats the crap out of going out in this crap! More snow tomorrow night! The only good thing about that is that my wife might actually have Wednesday off with me! Well, off to see Sean play Call of Duty 2 and take a shower! Night and once again, Happy New Year!

I know- I am a guy and my list is very guylike! I HAVE to tell my story on why the Ring made my list! My wife was gone to California to visit her Mom and I was home all alone and decided to watch the Ring alone with all the lights out. I am watching the movie- if you have seen it, it is hella creepy! So, they watch the video for the first time and the phone rings in the movie and then MY phone rings at the same time! I almost peed my freaking pants! It was only my wife though and she didn't tell me I was going to die! LOL! TOTALLY made the movie though! I was petrified when the freaking phone rang! LOL

Season OVER

Well, My Boys...
Will be sitting home for the playoffs! Kind of stinks but all in all, they had a good year! 8-8 isn't what I was hoping for when we were 8-6 but they are young and inexperienced and trust me, they wouldn't even have given the patriots a game! I have to work New Years Eve and New Years day but then I have Wednesday off so I am psyched for that! Sean should have fun- we will stay home and play video games for most of the day and get the house nice and clean while Colleen is working. I went over to Scott's house to watch the last day of my football season and I had a really good time! We ate meatball sandwiches and all were pretty pissed off since all three of our teams lost! I have already worked out, taken and a shower and Amazing Race is back on in fifteen minutes! I am not really feeling work tomorrow since this week has been REALLY shitty on call and I don't really feel like I had a day off this week! Well, I am off to blow up a tank with my son then watch TV with my wife! Night! Good luck to all the teams that made the playoffs! I still have a couple of people close to me who could end their season very happy! Later

Another Year

As New Year's Approaches,
I like to think back on things accomplished for the year! My wife kicked some major butt in this category! She graduates from college and earns her much deserved bachelor's degree! She also got back into the work force after twelve years of being out and being Mommy! Jessi is in middle school and Sean is in kindergarten! I really haven't accomplished much in terms of work other than I got a nice raise and proved that you can work six days for an entire year and NOT go crazy! Jerry and Julie had a big year, too! Jerry got a job at my work in our MIS department and gets to be home with his family every night and we get to do things together at work and on weekends! He is a valuable person at my work and they tell me all the time how thankful they were to have me recommend him and how grateful they are for him working there! Julie also dove back into work! Nicole became an aunt for the first time! Kristie and Tim got a new apartment and I think are going to give us TONS of stuff next year! Like a sister in law, nieces and nephews and weddings! LOL. OK, time to do lists!
Highlight of the year: My wife going back to work!
Low point of the year: Petty, yes but not shooting a deer!
High points that stick out: Christmas, camp and Disney
Memorable day: Sean's first day of school, My wife's last day of school, my wife's first day of work, Christmas party!

Merry Christmas

OK, I Know I Am...
A day late! Christmas was AWESOME! I got a 360 and three games and Sean got Big Game Hunter for the Wii which we are wearing out quickly! Jessi got some cool games for the Wii, too and it has been pretty hectic trying to wait your turn for the Wii! I took today off from work for working the 24TH and I think it will become a regular thing! I stayed home and played with the kids and our toys all day and it was SO fun! We also got the trash off to the dump, got the tree down and all the toys up to the kid's rooms and got the house looking pretty good! My poor wife had to work today- maybe she can put in for the 26TH off next year, too! I got a new winter jacket and a Vikings leather hat from my parents, plus my hunting and fishing license! I got a wallet from my children and I got the coolest grill set with Vikings on it from Tim and Kristie! I also got new socks- which I needed badly! All in all, Christmas rules! Glad it only comes once or year or we'd be broke all the time! We had lobster for Christmas dinner yesterday and I had a little of my fifth of Crown which was also a Christmas gift- which goes very nicely with my Crown T-shirt I got from Jerry and Julie! NHL 08 is really fun! The graphics are really good and the game is hard which is just the way I like it! I can't wait until tax time and a new TV to play my X-Box on! I really am spoiled but I don't mind! Well, off to read some blogs and some Vikings stuff! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a great night! Later

Christmas Eve

Tonight Is The Night Before...
Christmas! Tim and Kristie came over tonight to exchange gifts and have Chinese food with us! It was an awesome night! My children got a way cool portable DVD player which they are settled in upstairs watching right now, Sean got a remote control truck that spins and lights up and my wife got a cool serving dish and some movies! I got the COOLEST gift though! I got a Vikings grill set for my grill! If you combine the Vikings with just about anything, I will be happy but to combine them with something I love like grilling is just over the top! Tomorrow is the big day and Colleen and I are about an hour away from getting everything set up for the kids! I love this night! Along with the night I get to be a big bunny rabbit, I love Christmas! I love being Santa, really! Usually, I would spend the next two hours putting stuff together but we really don't have any assembling required this year! Yes, my kids are spoiled! I am aware of this but really don't feel bad about it in the least! Why wouldn't you spoil your children if you had the means? Well, off to go put on a big white beard and a red and white suit! This Is What It Is Like

To Be A...
Vikings fan! We win this game, we make the playoffs! What do they do in typical Viking fashion? Lay an absolute egg and play like shit in the biggest game of the year! They are down 25-0 and they are most assuredly going to lose this game badly! In our house, with a five game winning streak! God, I hate being a Vikings fan! This is what every year is like! You think they are dead, they surprise you and get on a roll and then drop the hammer on you and tear your heart out! We can't run the ball, our QB turns it over left and right and our defense is making a journeyman QB as old as me look like Peyton Manning! It is SO frustrating!

2ND Annual X-Mas Party

Last Night Was...
Our second Christmas party and it was a blast as always! We are lucky to have a good group of friends and family that get along and can have a good time like that! I FINALLY got to meet Kristie's sister, Karen and I have to say she fit right in! I thought everything went well even with the kids coming home early because Sean was sick! I ate a ton of food and feel a little fuzzy in the head but not too bad, really! I have a family Christmas party at 330 PM today and the Vikings play at 830 tonight. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and then Christmas! Sean says he CAN'T WAIT for Christmas and opening his presents! Having kids this time of year kicks ass! LOL Well, off to the dump and then work out then shower then party then football! Looking forward to Tim and Kristie coming over tomorrow night for presents and Chinese! I love Chinese! Later

One More Day

And I Can Have...
A day off and then I work half a day on Monday and then have Tuesday and Wednesday off! Christmas is So close now! Everything is leading to Tuesday and Christmas! I really love Christmas Eve! I love staying up and getting everything ready and set up for the kids and then not being able to sleep because I can't wait to see their faces when they come down first thing in the morning! Then it is all over until next year and they have to wait 364 days until it comes again! Vikings play Redskins on Sunday night and can solidify their spot in the playoffs with a win! If the Saints lose and the Vikings win, the Vikings are in the playoffs! They started 1-3 and were 2-5 at one point but have won five in a row and 6 or seven to get to 8-6! Hey- not bad for a year I thought they were done! Looking forward to tomorrow night and having some fun! Night

Looking Forward to...

Christmas, The Party and...
Three out of four days off! Of course, I am on call so they are not COMPLETELY off but really- when am I completely off? I am looking forward to the party this weekend and Christmas on Tuesday! I can't wait to see the kids and my wife open their gifts! The Vikings won even though the game was closer than I thought! They didn't play very well but came up with enough plays to win the game! Big game verse Washington this week and a win would just about guarantee the Vikings a birth in the playoffs! I don't have my party gift yet but I have a few ideas and I will make a decision by Friday! Well, off to read some Vikings message boards and go to bed! Today was CRAZY at work today and I am spent! Plus I don't feel that great and I worked out so I am even more tired! Night

Monday Night!

And Guess Who Plays?
Vikings-Bears with the Vikes on a four game winning streak and absolutely laying the smack down on the teams they have played! I hope for a little more AD and Chester and a nice, lopsided win on the Viking's only appearance on Monday Night Football! I am all pumped up right now so I am off to work out, put on some Viking's gear and settle in for the game! I am READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!!! Wish them Vikings luck! Night!

One Party Down...

One To Go!
I was pretty much an idiot last night! I kept drinking and drinking trying to find a happy buzz and shot right past that into full on hammered! Thank you very much for driving us all home safely, Julie! I had a really good time and enjoy our Christmas party a great deal but next year, I think I will try and tone it down a little! I like a vast majority of the people I work with and it is fun to spend an evening with all of them in more of a social setting then in a busy work environment! Now, our big party this weekend should be a blast but I am on call and won't be able to get too drunk! ~My wife gives a sigh of relief and quietly says thank you~ I loved seeing AJ and Jerry totally kicked ass at the sing along! The shop won some cool prizes and the night was pretty tame and easy going as far as parties go! I hope Jerry and Julie enjoyed their first Hartt party and I look forward to having many more with them! Thanks to Tim and Kristie for watching our kids while we were having some fun! Looking forward to next Saturday night and our big Christmas bash! Off to make sugar cookies with the kids and watch a little football! Later

Saturday Which Will Bring...
My company Christmas party! Yes, I have to work tomorrow and then we are off for a night of fun! I think I will pass on the Everclear soaked cherries this year and stick to something much less lethal! I am pumped for this year's party more than ever because AJ is going to be there as always and Jerry will be there with Julie for the first time! If my memory serves me right, Jerry started at Hartt in March so this will be his first taste of our party! Jerry fits in great with my shop guys and he should have a blast tomorrow night! Sorry you have to drive, Julie but we will make it up to you a week from tomorrow at our Christmas party! I have my eyes on the HD TV they are giving away! I would pee my pants if I won that! AJ and I have a great time at the party! It is one of the very few times I get to hang out with him during the year even though I talk to him just about every day! He is bringing his girl with him this year and that MIGHT settle him down a little bit! Work has been very tiring this week and I am glad this week is almost over! I guess we are getting a HUGE snow storm on Saturday night/Sunday and I am looking forward to not working during that! Snow storms at my work does NOT make for a nice day at work! Half the people are moving snow and the other half are trying to do two people's jobs! My helper came back to work today and I have to say the day went much better! Well, I just finished working out and taking a shower so I am going off to watch a little TV and go to sleep! Night

Here They Are

The Previously Talked About...
Ginger bread houses! Today was a little better at work! My helper wasn't there again and he won't be there tomorrow either! That makes it hard on me but I will live! I lived ten months before he got there and I will live years after he is no longer still there! Today was pretty hectic too and he really wouldn't have been too much help! My Great Dane stock order would be done but I can do it first thing in the morning pretty easily! Vikings play on Monday night this week so I think I will take a Sunday off from football- at least some football and finish my insulation project in the cellar and maybe do something fun with the wife and kids! Not sure exactly what yet but I will think of something! Well, off to work out and shower and see what is going on tonight! Night

Two Weeks

Two Weeks Until...
Christmas! I had an absolutely shitty day at work today! My help called in and I got SWAMPED all friggin' day! I was on the phone probably nine out of 10 1/2 hours today! My day didn't really get much better when I got home and I am now going up stairs, taking out my aggression on some weights, taking a shower and settling in to watch some NHL and fall asleep! Julie, thank you SO much for being DD at the Christmas party! I owe you BIG for that! Night

My Very Short Weekend

I Plan On Working Mondays...
Until they are done with the camp on Green Lake! That includes Christmas Eve but I did finagle Dec 26 off for working the 24th! I have this week off from call and then I have it for two weeks again! That will be having the stupid pager for five out of six weeks! I won't be on call this weekend for our company paraty though and I like that! I had a good day off! I went to the dump, played with the kids and watched the Vikings put another beat down on a team- this time the Niners! That is five out of six and sole possession of the last wild card spot in the NFC! They are coming on strong at the right time and proving that they are a force in the weak NFC! One of the NFL commentators said the Vikings were the third best team in the NFC and that no one wants to play them in the playoffs! They run the ball extremely well and stop the run equally as well so they will be dangerous should they make it in! Quite a turn around for a team that was 1-4 and 2-5 and was wrote off for dead! They would have to play all playoff games on the road- which is very tough but I like the chances of them doing some damage in the playoffs and are pretty well set for next year! Well, off to work out and help Jessi with her science home work! Night

One Week

Until My Company...
Christmas party and two weeks until our party here! I can't wait! I have WAY too much fun at both of these parties and look forward to them all year long! No potato salad with peas in it! Good company! Good booze! Sounds like my kind of time! I love this time of year- Christmas that is not the weather! Today was ok at work! It was busy but the day went by fast and I had angelo's pizza for supper and it was really good! Colleen had their Caesar chicken salad and said that was excellent! We went out to Texas Roadhouse last night for supper to celebrate us being a two income family! That is pretty cool since we have been a one income family for a really long time! I am happy my wife likes her job and all things that come with it! Guess we are entering a new stage in our lives! One that I like quite a bit! Night

In The Zone

Is Exactly Where I Was Today!
I was cranking all day! Nice to have a full night's sleep to make me feel better and get me refocused on work! I was cranking so hard at the end of the day, Jerry had to call me and tell me it was time to leave! LOL. I was on a roll today! No Alex, Todd gone half the day and I was ROLLING! I like days like today! Things were going well, things were getting done and there were very few foul ups! Very few days happen like today so I am grateful for when a day comes along like that! Tomorrow will probably be sucky and totally make up for the day today was but oh well! I am off to take a shower, watch some football and snuggle in for the night! One week from Saturday is our company Christmas party then one week from that is our Christmas party! Woo Hoo! Later

I Miss Summer

Or Even Spring...
For that matter! This weather is cold and snowy and I am not liking it or used to it! I know- it is December in Maine and it seems like we are getting a real winter for once in the last ten years but I was liking the whole global warming thing and the warm weather and no snow until January or February! Well, I guess Sean and I should be able to do some ice fishing this year which is a good thing! Maybe I can talk Dad into going to Swan for opening day and let Sean catch some nice trout through the ice! I can't believe there is less than three weeks left until Christmas! This year went by really fast and it is almost 2008! Go Vikings! Can't wait until Sunday when they play the Niners! Excellent supper as always, Honey! TTYL

Snow Day

Last Night Was SO Bad...
On call that I didn't sleep hardly at all! I got called like every 20 minutes all night and hardly slept at all! It was the worst night I have ever had on call and am not looking forward to another night like that EVER! I need to do what I am doing in my first picture and my second picture is a tribute to the storm we are getting right now! Kids LOVE snow! They have been playing in it pretty much all day and I am happy- since my wife pointed out yesterday that the kids don't play outside anywhere with it getting colder and stuff. I need to run out back one of these days and retrive my treestand from the tree it is sitting in. Monday Night football should be a descent game tonight- Baltimore VS New England! Pats should smoke the Ravens though! Vikings are on a really nice run right now! They have won four of five and are 6-6 with four winnable games left! They could make the playoffs and with their running game, do some damage when they get there! Well, off to work out and get ready for MNF!! Later

Close As I Got

This Is As Close...
As I came to a deer this year! The Vikings are absolutely killing the Lions! My wife blogs twice in one day and I will not be outdone! Vikes are up 42-10 right now and they ran wild on the hapless Lions! My wife is making a lasagna right now as I type this and I am starving and ready to eat! I miss Direct TV so I could be watching this game now instead of listening to it on the internet! Crap- one more hour and I am on call again! I am planning on working tomorrow even though we will be having a major snow storm! First one of the year and I am really not losing too much sleep about it! Having snow for Christmas will actually be different since we never do anymore! By what I saw today, my kids should have an awesome Christmas! My Plans for Sunday!

Sitting in my chair watching football! Unfortunately, my chair is sitting out on the porch broken! I miss my chair! I sleep in it, watch TV in it and I really don't like watching TV without it! I need to go to the dump, insulate some pipes down stairs and then settle in for the biggest game of the year so far! The Vikings have won 3 of 4 and are right back in the playoff picture in the NFC! A win today and they are firmly entrenched in it! Lions are one game ahead of them so beating them today is a must to make the playoffs! Well, off to get my stuff done and settle in for the day! Getting Closer

To The Weekend!
This week has seemed very long and tiring! It seems like my phone hasn't stopped at work for two days and I keep falling behind! I do the things I need to do but man, it has been busy! I don't like being on call for two straight weeks so three weeks is WAY too long! I am going upstairs to work out and take a shower and then I am going to watch the Pack get their collective asses handed to them by the Cowboys! My wife did an Amazon wish list for me and I was very impressed with the things she put on the list! I guess it is normal that she would know me better than any other person but I was very impressed with her accuracy on all the things she picked! She even picked things I didn't know I wanted or needed! She is a very talented woman- especially when it comes to picking gifts! She always seems to pick the perfect thing for people! I like to call it a 'gift'! LOL

Only Wednesday?

This Week Should Be Over!
This seems like the longest week ever! My wife put up her Christmas Party blog today! I can't wait for that night! Last year was SO much fun and I can't wait to top it this year! Guitar Hero, drinking, Jerry and I getting paged! How can you top that? Yummy food, good company, hilarious gifts! I think you get the picture! I know you do if you were here last year and you will understand on Dec 22! Unfortunately, my mother-in-law has gone back to Nashville! I try to stay out of my wife and Janice's way when she comes to visit- they are mother and daughter and don't get to see each other that much! I hope my kids don't decide to move away when they graduate. I wouldn't try to stop them but I would much rather be able to drive over to their house or have them drive over to mine and see them all the time! Some day, I will be a grandfather and I want to see my grandchildren all the time! Chances are pretty good that they will stay here- assuming there are jobs for them here in Maine! I guess I am getting a little ahead of myself talking about grandkids and stuff! Jessi is only 12 and Sean is 5! One of the ladies at work is having a C-section tomorrow and is scared silly! It is her first kid so I guess I can see that! It is a scary time- you don't know if you will be able to watch the World Series and you just hope the kid holds off until the game is over! LOL

Me Blog Slacky!

I Have Been Told That...
I am a blog slacker! I am sorry, Kristie- it won't happen again! I will no matter what inconsequential crap I have to say! I was busy with vacation and work and hunting but I am back now! And better than ever! I have a hard time believing there is less than a month until Christmas! This year has gone by extremely fast! Kristie and Tim came over for supper tonight with Janice and my family! It was very nice- good food, good conversation and a good time! I think that they felt guilty about starting dinner without me there but I really have to say that doesn't offend me at all! I am not one of those people that you can set your watch by- well, actually I am but my work isn't! My wife has decided on Dec. 22 for our party! Can't wait for that day! Had a blast last time and am looking forward to having a blast again! I think Jerry and I are both on call that weekend which kind of stinks but oh well! We will still have fun! Christmas party for the company on Dec 15 and family party on the 16th! Month is going by too fast! Well, off to chill out and watch TV! Night

Busy Monday

I Worked Today!
I really wish I hadn't! It was busy as crap and I regretted going to work from the second I got there! On a brighter note, we went to my parent's house for supper tonight and I am STILL stuffed from all the food I ate! My Mom made roasted pork and veggies and it was excellent! I ate my share, Sean's share and even some of Jessi's share! Well, I am off to settle into bed and watch Monday Night Football and probably fall asleep fairly soon! It is actually quite refreshing to know deer season is over and I don't have to get up at the crack of dawn every day! I was mad for a little bit that I didn't shoot a deer but I really did have several chances and found a way to blow every one of them! I am in a funk right now in deer hunting but they usually don't last long and I usually bounce back quite nicely! Usually, a dry streak like this makes me reevaluate my hunting and change some things that make me a better hunter in the long run! Like the fact that I need to practice more! I might dig my bow out for next year, too- it makes me more patient and calmer when I see deer. Well, this should put an end to the deer season of 2007 so I am off for football and relaxing! Night!

Black Friday

But For Different Reasons!
My stupid furnace at work makes this loud, squealing noise every time it turns on and I have a headache from listening to the stupid thing all day! I had completely given up on hunting this morning! I shut off my alarm and went back to bed, convinced that it was over for me! Well, I have an hour tomorrow morning and if that doesn't work, I will be making a trip uptown and getting a new muzzleloader! I don't quit easy- at anything! The deer will not win that easily! They will get six weeks of me chasing their asses all over the woods and if that doesn't work, I will concede defeat! I am like the Bills playing the Pats, down 56-3 and I keep running back out on the field, sure we are going to score a touchdown or stop the Pat's offense this time! Sometimes, you need to admit that this isn't your year! I haven't got there yet! I am ready to hound and chase and sit in the woods until my chance finally comes again! I am stubborn if nothing else! Had an awesome Thanksgiving dinner! Thanks to all who attended! Well, off to work out and play some Guitar Hero- having a REAL hard time convincing myself that today is Friday- not Monday! Later

Who Do I Wish Happy Thanksgiving To?
Colleen- my wife who takes care of me, feeds me, makes sure I have clean clothes and takes care of my children! Oh yeah, she even brings home money now! How sweet is that? Love you, Honey and am very thankful for you in my life! Couldn't and wouldn't even want to do it without you!
Sean and Jessi- my children! My life, the reason I go to work every day, my pride and joy! Both really good kids- we got lucky there I think! Until you have children of your own, you are missing the single most touching moment in your life- when you FINALLY meet them! Cannot be beat by any feeling in the world short of a Viking's Super Bowl!
My parents- without them, I wouldn't be here! Enough said!
Jerry- my best friend and his wonderful family! How I got along for 12 years without him is beyond me! We always got together better than I have with any other human being short of Colleen and have to think we always will! When I need to get a buzz on or be cheered up on a ride to work, there is no better or more qualified person in the universe! Could not be happier that you work with me and will always be on my short list for life! Sorry you weren't my best man at my wedding- something I will always regret and hope to get a chance to rectify sometime in the next ten to fifteen years! Renewing vows is a big thing now a day and I think I FINALLY got the right guy!
Nicole- for her wit, for her sense of humor, for her friendship with my wife and her friendship with my family! My wife's best friend! I don't need to say more than that! Plus, no one in the world is better at getting THE JUICE!

Scott and Sarah- my brother and possibly sister in law! Thanks for having me out for football and letting me yell and scream at the Fing Vikings and knowing that I am into the game! My brother really seems happy for the first time in a long time and I am very grateful for that!
My house and job! Without the later, I would not have the former! Love living in my own house and living in Hampden so my kids can go to school where their Mom and Dad did! Also love that I am 100 yards from hunting whenever I am home! Also can't beat having a place where Sean can catch trout 200 yards down the road!

I Know...

I Am Not Going...
To get a deer this year! Had my chance! Had an eight pointer broad side at 100 yards! For three shots! THAT was my deer! Oh well, it isn't the end of the world but this will make two years in a row of not getting one! I went seven years in a row of getting one every year until this dry spell! I shouldn't throw in the towel yet! I still have all day on Thanksgiving and every morning this week before work. I wish I was seeing deer out back! At least that would give me hope! I see six deer out back tromping around bird hunting and have seen a grand total of one out back since deer season started! Well, I will park my fat ass on the pipeline and see what happens! I shouldn't have tried to change something that has worked for me for years anyway! Vikings won yesterday! And the Pats put an absolute STOMPING on the Bills! I went to bed at half time knowing the game was over! Congrats Karl on your Jets beating the Steelers! Very nice win! Well, off to eat my favorite- pasta salad and play Guitar Hero 3! Night

Sick On Many Levels

I Am Sick!
Sick of not seeing deer, sick with a cold like I am every deer season, sick of being tired and sick of work! I know- I just got off vacation but people at work drive me crazy! They are so petty and all they care about is themselves! I am not looking forward to a full month without Alex there! That might sound weird since I bitch about him all the time but he has his place! He is an asshole sometimes because he has to be! This weather isn't really impressing me much, either! Rain, rain, rain! I would like to see a nice, chilly morning with no wind and maybe I can nail this deer out back of my house! I will either kill him or die trying to get him! I know- I need to be patient and my last chance will come but I am SICK and getting up at 430 AM every day isn't helping me get better! Just for fun, people should try stumbling around in the woods in the dark and see how many scratches and bump and bruises you get! NOTHING is like you remember it in the day time! You walk into trees, trip over logs and stumps and if I didn't wear glasses, I would probably only have one eye! OK- that last line made me laugh! I would have to divorce my wife and go find my old girlfriend if that happened! LOL. Well, off to relax and watch Survivor and then go to bed so I can get up at the ass crack of dawn and go sit in the woods and see absolutely nothing! NO- I am not bitter! LOL Later

The Vikings Lost, But...

I Won!
How does THAT figure? I took Green Bay in my eliminator and the other two people took New Orleans! Saints got beat by winless Rams and GB beat my hapless team into submission meaning I won! $300 to be exact! Kind of took the sting out of an absolute whooping laid down on my not very good boys! I need to go read a few threads on ESPN and make sure AP is OK. Today is my last day of vacation and I must say I enjoyed it! I still have about 45 minutes to hunt before work and I have Thanksgiving and then my season is done! I think my deer season is going to end like the Vikings season- a lot of getting my ass kicked! I worked out tonight for the first time all week! I like to take a week or so off every now and again and vacation weeks seem to be about right since I get three a year! I haven't decided what to do with my third week of vacation! One week was for hunting, one week will be for camp but that leaves a third week! I guess I could go to Guy camp in September and actually stay the whole week for once! Don't tell my wife but I REALLY want one of those TVs we were looking at the other day! Shoot! I think she might read this! LOL Off to watch Amazing Race and go to bed! Later

One Day Left

I Only Have...
One more day left on my vacation to hunt and then one day left to relax and watch football and then I have to go back to work! I have had descent luck this week as far as seeing deer! I saw three on Monday and shot at a doe running full out across a road, saw three last night that were too far away and then saw a buck this morning when I went out with Sean! It went blazing by us at 45 MPH and I didn't even have my gun in my hand when it did! Didn't see anything tonight and I have two morning and one evening before my vacation is over! I talked to work today and Todd said he saved me some paperwork! LOL. Should take me a month to catch up from this last week! At least I know I am needed and respected! Joe and I can win our eliminator this weekend if New Orleans loses and Green Bay wins! THAT would be sweet! Well, off to get some sleep- 430 AM comes early! Night

Day 2 Down

Well, Day Two Is Done...
And still no deer! Today was NASTY hunting weather! It poured and the wind blew about 40 MPH and you couldn't hear anything! I didn't think they would be moving today! They get spooky with a wind like that and don't move much! It is supposed to stop raining sometime tonight so tomorrow morning should be pretty good! Maybe the time is finally here! I have a good feeling about tomorrow! Karl is coming down sometime tomorrow morning and we will be going out somewhere! Still haven't decided where quite yet! I have been a work out slacker this week as well as a blog slacker! I haven't worked out since Sunday and I will have to buckle down tomorrow! Well, off to beat Tom Morello in Guitar Hero! Day One

Day One Of...
My vacation is in the books! Saw three deer this morning, missed a doe doing 200 MPH across a road! This deer being missed was acceptable- would have been an impossible shot if I had made it! Played some Guitar Hero- trying to move up to medium and it is hard! I need to wash my clothes and get ready for tomorrow and see what my tree stand holds in store for me tomorrow! I NEED to see a deer out back! All my scouting and prep and I have yet to see a deer out there! I have seen deer everywhere else I have gone and the weather is calling for cold and rainy tomorrow so there is a real good chance I get a crack at one tomorrow! Sorry I have been blog slacking! I haven't had much to say- not that I ever really do! LOL! Pats are 9-0, Vikings won and I went to Scott's and watched the Vikings game! Had a blast over there and hung out with my Bro! Well, off to do something productive even though I haven't exactly figured out what that is yet! Night

Vacation

After Tomorrow... I am on vacation! I plan to hunt like a mad man and do everything in my power to get a deer! I have a house full of 12-13 year old girls and I am quite happy to be locked away in here on the computer! My daughter is having a slumber party for her birthday and they are loud, scream a lot and gossip! LOL. Sean is a wreck because none of the girls will let him play! Well, I am off to lock myself in my room, work out and go to bed! At 5 pm tomorrow, I am on vacation! What a wonderful word that is- vacation!

He Left Early?

Yep, I Sure Did!
I saw what kind of night it was and asked if I could leave early and hunt the last hour of the day! They love me so they said, "why are you still here?" So, I came home, took a shower and got on my hunting clothes and went out! Perfect night! Overcast, a little drizzle! I knew I'd see deer! So, to make an absolutely miserable story short, I missed a descent buck THREE times! I couldn't see through the scope and was basically guessing where the deer was by the white of it's tail! Pissed me off but oh well, I have next week off and I better get something then or I am starting to think this isn't my year! Had a very yummy supper when I got home even though I didn't notice that there was spaghetti to go with it until after I had eaten! Well, off to watch Survivor and settle in for the night! Starting to think I suck at hunting! Later

Colleen's Year

I Would Have To Say...
That this is Colleen's year! She will get her bachelor's degree, got a new job, got both kids in school and is enjoying her new camera and taking pictures! I am very happy for her because she deserves it! She has spent the last twelve years at home, taking care of me and my children and now she can finally finish her degree- which she had to stop pursuing because of our kids and she gets a pretty descent job that allows her to be home when the kids get out of school and when I get home from work! Two incomes won't be completely new- we both worked back when Jessi was little but we combined made what I make now! It should be pretty cool to have some extra money and hopefully a new car for my wife! I am at a good place with my job and hopefully my wife likes her job as much as I like mine! They told me I CAN take my vacation next week and I am pumped for that! Can't wait for a week of deer hunting! I think I have also found a new hunting partner to go with me! We will see for sure on Monday! Later

I Made My Wife...
Stop into my parent's house on the way uptown and take some pictures of my Dad's deer! We got Guitar Hero 3 and I am stuck listening to the Vikings game on the radio! Jessi has been dying for that game so I am not going to kick them off for football! I have tomorrow off and plan to shoot a deer tomorrow! Vikings are driving down inside the Eagles seven yard line and AP is rolling! Loves it! Later

OK, Let's Give A ...
Run down on this afternoon's hunting! I went to my honey hole and there were already two deer there at 3 PM when I got there! I snuck within a couple hundred yards of the deer, scoped them several times and determined that they were both does and that they could be left alone! I have a doe permit but it is opening day! So, I sit there for the rest of the afternoon and I start thinking that deer should be coming out around 5! I look at my watch and it says 5:05 and I look across the field and there is a deer! I scope it- another doe! Look! Another behind that one! Crap, doe, too! Wait- there is a third one! You guessed it, doe, too! They are 180-200 yards away and feeding across the field. I scope them in every possible position I can think to contort my body into! Kneeling, sitting, prone, one hand on my pee-pee! LOL- just kidding about the pee-pee- I did that long before the deer came out! LOL! So, the deer act like there is another deer behind them! I wait and keep looking expecting a 400 pound monstah to come walking about behind the three does! No dice! The deer are almost across the field- as a matter of fact, the first deer is starting into the woods! I think- no, actually I say to myself. "Rick, if you want to shoot a fucking deer tonight, now is the time!" I answer myself, "OK." Then I proceed to lay down on the ground with my gun resting comfortably on a log with an absolutely perfect shot lined up! I pretend to shoot the last doe like four times and then I click off the safety! Get everything like I want it and squeeze the trigger! I know this deer is mine and when the gun hammers against my shoulder, I notice the deer had taken a step and I shot directly behind the deer! SHIT! I smack my forehead with my open hand and say, "Jeese, Rick- nice shot! You missed the deer by three feet!" So, aforementioned deer run into the woods, I feel like an absolute IDIOT and still have to walk over and check for hair and blood just incase a fourth deer came out of nowhere and I hit that one! No dice! The good news is my Dad did shoot one and he hates deer meat so guess who gets all that? LOL! Well, off to eat myself back to 200 pounds and sulk! Night!

Opening Day

Or Christmas...
As I like to refer to it is today! I had an absolutely lousy morning! I slept like crap and kept waking up every hour or so to see if it was time and then I got up and everything went fine! I got to my stand, climbed up in and got my new strap on and went to put my head mask on and knocked my glasses off and they fell out of the tree stand! I can't see without my glasses! Ten deer could walk by me and I would never see them! I waited until it got light enough to see and climbed down and looked for them! I couldn't find them and finally got pissed off and ran back to the house. I put my contacts in and got back out there and then promptly heard two shots right behind me! I waited for a few minutes to see if anything would come by me then went out to make sure it wasn't Dad shooting! I got back to my stand, got strapped in and my phone starts vibrating! I answer it and it is Dad and he has just shot a buck! I climb down, go get my car and go find Dad who has already found the deer- a nice, fat 4 point buck! We gut his deer out, I drag it out of the woods for him and load it in my car then go to show my kids and tag his deer! I just got home, stripped off my absolutely soaked clothes and am having a cup of coffee! The spot I have planned for tonight is my honey spot! If the weather stays like this, I should have no problem at least seeing some deer tonight! I did find my glasses, too! They fell out of my tree stand and hung on a branch! I felt like an idiot this morning! One deer down, one to go! Later

Peanut

Today Is Jessi's...
Birthday! 12 years ago, Jessi was born on Wednesday, Oct 25 at 1130 PM! I went out and shot a deer on Saturday! LOL! I can't believe she is 12! My wife's blog was right on the money and said it perfectly! Hunting starts in two days and I am SO ready! No hemming and hawing over deer- one walks by, it falls down! Both my children want to go to a hunter's breakfast with me on Saturday even though we will be going at like 430 AM! Sox SMOKED Colorado in the opener and it was OVER by the 5th! I went to bed confident that game was over after only five innings! I need to go upstairs and work out, take a shower and get ready for game 2! Off to do something! Later

World Series

The World Series...
Starts tonight and my wife is overjoyed! She is going to snuggle in with me and some popcorn and we are going to watch the whole game! NOT! She hates ALL sports and wouldn't be caught dead watching a baseball game! I don't mind though- she puts up with me and my obsession with sports so I can't complain! Had a delicious lasagna for supper! Thank you, Honey! Jessi is 12 tomorrow and I am doing much better now! Well, off to shower and get on some jammies and settle in for Josh Beckett! Later

Feeling Old

With My Little...
Girl turning 12, I am feeling old this week! She is raking in HUGE gifts every day this week and I am very happy to see her love all gifts but 12 years old? She has her own cell phone now and will be a teenager next year! Jerry and I were talking about seeing your child for the first time when they are born on the ride home tonight! I honestly never thought you could love someone at first sight but when I saw Jessi for the first time, I was in awe that I made something THAT perfect! There is no other experience like that in the world! Seeing your child for the first time- after ten months of wondering if they will be ok, what sex they will be, what they will be like! Something I will NEVER forget! They grow up very fast and I am not coping all that well with that revelation! My son will be six next year, my daughter 13! As Kenny would say- don't blink! Later

Birthdays and Hunting

This Week Is...
Jessi's birthday- she will be 12 and opening week of deer season! I am only working until Friday since I have Saturday off and I have a three day weekend! We gave Jessi her new phone last night and I think my wife's blogged summed it up very nicely! I need a safety harness NOW! And wool socks! Oh well, I can go get them on Friday or somewhere there abouts! Lots going on this weekend with opening day, Jessi's birthday and multiple Halloween parties! TTYL

Sunday Fun

Today Is Scott and I's...
Super Bowl! Our teams play today and that only happens every three or four years! I have been busy getting my stuff done before I go over to his house to watch the game! I cleared shooting lanes at my tree stand and got some stuff ready for the big day this Saturday! Alex is off this week to go hunting in Canada and he will not be there all week! I have Saturday and Monday off to hunt and I think I better shoot a deer on one of those two days! All I have to say is GO VIKINGS! I hope it is a good game and the Vikings squeak it out in the end! Father And Son

I Love These Pictures...Of Sean and I fishing! I love taking him fishing and doing stuff with him! My week is finally over and I get to spend a day off with my family before I have to go back to work for five day! Next Saturday is opening day and I have Saturday, Sunday and Monday off! My wife and Jessi and Nicole are at fright night at Fort Knox! I have a few things to take care of tomorrow before I go out to Scott's house for football!
